Most pastors / ministers are not trained to handle traumatic events like sudden deaths, suicides, murders, mass casualty incidents, school tragedies and worse. In fact, most Bible colleges, seminaries and Christian universities offer few, if any, courses on ministering to traumatized people. That’s why there are police chaplains.
Chaplains are ministers who “take care of the team”. Law enforcement chaplains serve the law enforcement personnel who protect our communities. This is why we at Calvary Chapel of Sahuarita support the Police Chaplaincy Ministry. Pastor JK serves as a volunteer police chaplain of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Pima County Regional SWAT team, where he has served for more than 11 years.
